How to Use The Guide

Next to each property that has been assessed you will find a key with a mix of eggs, tadpoles and frogs.

They key represents a group of features of the property. When there are eggs or tadpoles instead of a frog only some of the features are present.

The 1st Frog

LAND and SEA
Soil, Native Habitat, Revegetation, Bio-Diversity, Risk Management, Animals, Fish.

The 2nd Frog

BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Energy Efficient Design, Embodied Energy Assessement, ReUse, Renewal, Recycling, Retrofit, Appliances.

The 3rd Frog

COMMUNITY
Enterprise, Eco Villages and CoHousing, Education and Training, Landcare, Diversity and Tolerance, Heritage, Community Development, Neighbours, Social Equity, Transport.

The 4th Frog

ENERGY
Use and Re-Use, Generation, Waste, Renewables, Resources

The 5th Frog WATER
Use, ReUse, Waste, Catchment, Tanks, Dams, Springs


There are 5 stages of metamorphosis of egg to frog. We use these to indicate properties that may be in a stage of transition to EcoProperty.

The further the tadpole is in its metamorphosis to frog for that group of features the closer that property is to EcoProperty.

So, an example of a property may look like this:

The Land has many features, the Built Environment is highly qualified, Community is in early stages, a few of the Energy features are present, some Water issues have been addressed.
