Beautiful Revegetating Historical Property

EPAF-N3CMS Cowra District

“Iambi Park”, 53ha. property at Morongla Creek village (pop. 40), 12 kms from Cowra
on the Canberra road, is for sale. It has a nice big house (c 1910, 5 bedrooms),
shearing shed, bore and rain water. Past and present owners of “Iambi” have family
connections with the district going back to about 1865.

Nineteen hectares of the land have recently been planted with diverse
local species of native trees, shrubs and groundcover. This is a thoroughly researched
attempt to restore the original habitat habitat for native animals, particularly birds, and to provide a wildlife corridor linking Morongla Creek, Morongla cemetery and other important vegetation areas.

This large, ongoing, restoration project is being actively managed by the Cowra Woodland Birds group (Birds Australia), with support from the Lachlan Catchment Management Authority. Much of the work has been done with the great help and goodwill of volunteers, many of them local.

The Koorawatha Nature Reserve (1,106 ha, established in 2002) is approximately 15 minutes’ drive
from Morongla Creek village.

Significant revegetation project, with the support already in place.
